Allina Health Laboratory provides a full menu of essential and specialized laboratory services to customers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. We provide reference laboratory services to four major metropolitan hospitals, 13 regional hospitals, including Abbott Northwestern – WestHealth (Plymouth), 59+ Allina Health clinics, 40+ hospital-based clinics and outpatient surgery centers. As a local, accessible resource, we provide clinical and anatomic pathology services that support customers diagnostic needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures within established guidelines
  • Collects (phlebotomy),processes, and evaluates the acceptability of specimens
  • Performs analytical tests following SOP
  • Evaluates results for accuracy, completion, and correlation with physical condition
  • Recognizes abnormal, critical, and implausible results
  • Maintains supplies levels
  • Performs additional duties/responsibilities within the department (ex. Safety, equipment, committees, etc), as assigned
  • Performs complex calibration checks, preventive maintenance, function checks, and basic troubleshooting on equipment
  • Ensures quality control and preventive maintenance documentation for a work area if assigned as a key operator
  • Adheres to all regulatory guidelines
  • Completes required training and education
  • Performs and documents QC
  • takes appropriate remedial action following established laboratory guidelines
  • Submits QC data for analysis at appropriate times
  • Performs proficiency testing as assigned and maintains documentation to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Participates in laboratory and facility TQI teams as assigned
  • Assists in monitoring of QA indicators
  • Participates in laboratory and facility TQI teams as assigned

  • Responds to and resolves customer concerns and questions within guidelines

Education

  • 2 year degree in medial laboratory science, completion of clinical internship, certification as CLT/MLT/AMT + 3 years experience preferred (minimum 1 year internal experience) OR
  • Completion of comprehensive military laboratory science program, certification as CLT/MLT/AMT + 3 years experience preferred (minimum 1 year internal experience) OR
  • 4 year degree in related science + 3 years clinical lab experience in appropriate analytic area (minimum 1 year internal experience) + certification as CLT/MLT + acceptable performance OR
  • 2 year degree in medical laboratory science + AMT certification + 3 years experience preferred (minimum 1 year internal experience)

Licensure/Certifications

  • CLT/MLT/AMT certification required. Staff who received certification after January 1, 2004 is required to renew their certification every three years

Work Schedule

Night position working every 3rd weekend.
