Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care support and assist providers as instructed by the physician, provider or RN
  • Room patients, manage patient flow and obtain adequate patient medical information/data
  • Receive or initiate patient phone calls and follow practice or protocol while gathering pertinent data regarding the reason for call or patient request
  • Actively engage in Team Communication, huddles or other activities
  • Schedule/cancel appointments for existing patients following standard practice
  • Clean, prepare, organize and re-stock exam rooms
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program that meets Allina Health requirements for education programs or
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Prefer minimum of one year clinic Medical Assistant or LPN experience
  • Experience working with electronic medical records program strongly preferred

  • Ability to:
  • Utilize customer service skills in order to positively impact the experience of care for our patients, external customers and internal service partners
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and excellent customer service skills
  • Respond to various patient needs
  • Communicate and work within a team environment effectively
  • Perform vital signs, documentation, infection control, medication administration and emergency procedures (IE: CPR).
  • Maintain good organization, problem solving and judgment
  • Follow all procedures and protocols for assigned work area
  • Standing for long periods of time with some bending, stooping, and stretching
  • Lifting patients to a maximum of 32 lbs. except in an emergency (i.e. patient falling)
  • May lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Keyboard and navigate within an electronic medical record work environment

Licensure/Certification

  • Current MN LPN licensure or
  • Medical Assistant: must obtain AAMA certification or AMT Registration within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Non-Certified only through acquisition or grandfathered by special exception
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Work Schedule

  • This position is for the ENT department
  • Monday through Friday, no weekends
  • 32 hours/week
  • Benefit eligible
  • MLPNA Contract

Located only twenty-five minutes south of the Twin Cities Metro Area, off I-35, the city of Faribault is built along the banks of the Straight and Cannon Rivers. Faribault enjoys the advantages and conveniences of being near a major metropolitan center while providing the livability of a small town. The community is home to several businesses including "Tilt-A-Whirl", Faribault Woolen Mills, Turkey Store Products, and Faribault Foods Butter Kernel vegetables. There is also a community college in town with two universities located in the city of Northfield, ten miles away. Faribault is also home to the Minnesota Academies for the Blind and Deaf. The historic downtown, accessible shopping centers, friendly neighborhoods, excellent schools, and extensive recreation and cultural opportunities make Faribault a wonderful place to work and live.
