The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop workflows that reduce redundancy, increase efficiency and promote ‘patient first’ care processes.
  • Presents future state workflows to stakeholders for analysis and evaluation.
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders
  • Identify issues, risks and gaps and facilitates problem resolution
  • Uses appropriate analysis tool based on size/type of project/ task.
  • Conducts analysis of business and users’ needs and forecasted outcomes to achieve system redesign process alternative solutions.
  • Uses metrics and data to lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with functional leads to ensure consistency, coordination and integration of design activity within functions (e.g., providers, nursing, social work, pharmacy, revenue cycle management, IS).
  • Partners with Excellian Clinical Services to define build specifications that support strategic goals of care management and coordination.
  • Reports project status updates to stakeholders inclusive of successes, barriers and identified challenges.
  • Manages medium to large projects and process improvements.
  • Serves as a senior technical and process expert for initiatives of Care Management and Coordination.
  • Identify, define and document business processes in need of improvement.
  • Relates software application technical functions to improve care coordination and communications.
  • Facilitates design sessions and identifies specifications of system changes to support Care Management and Coordination initiatives.
  • Leads and guides more complex workgroups through evaluation of current state process analysis and design of innovative opportunities to improve future state processes.
  • Leads workgroups to move forward with completed deliverables, measurable outcomes and process metrics.
  • Develops and hands off, to program leadership, effective ‘control’ plan for projects and process improvements.
  • Mentors Care Management staff in project management and process improvement methodologies.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Required

Qualification/Skills

Minimum 5-6 years of related experience in the following:
  • Success in the role of Intermediate Business Analyst or related work experience.
  • Health care industry with progressive operational experience that includes, but is not limited to an ambulatory or hospital settings.
  • Ability to effectively work with the health care team across the continuum.
  • Clinical experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospital, ancillary and clinic care delivery processes that touch patients.
  • Strong facilitation skills recognized for keeping large groups engaged, creative and actively pursuing new ideas to meet the vision and goals of Allina Health Care Management and Coordination.
  • Advanced project planning and project management experience.
  • Advanced process improvement experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellian (Epic) knowledge preferred.
  • Microsoft Office application skills
  • Recognizes how and when to access appropriate resources (ex., PI, data analytics, CDS, Excellian, research, organizations).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer relationship and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in formal analysis and presentation skills.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday normal business hours
