The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

Position Purpose
The Director, Organizational Effectiveness is responsible for the design, implementation and sustainability of the Allina Health integrated talent management system. The integrated talent system will align assessment programs to workforce capabilities. They will partner with system leaders to align engagement efforts to Whole Person Care for Us. They will lead the redesign and implementation of the performance management program to leverage the Allina Health Leadership Model capabilities to better align to goal setting, development planning and continuous conversations that help employees be their best selves and thrive. The Director, Organizational Effectiveness will enhance the talent review and succession planning processes to more tightly align to strategic workforce capabilities efforts. The effectiveness and impact of these efforts will be enabled by effective and sustained organization readiness / change leadership efforts that leverage leadership capabilities.

Specifically:

  • Ensure existing assessment programs are supporting workforce capabilities objectives and expand assessments
  • Expand engagement efforts to make ongoing input, feedback and conversation part of daily work
  • Design and deploy an effective performance program that supports clarity, accountability and connects purpose of roles to our mission
  • Refines talent review and succession planning to become more integrated in overall workforce planning strategies
  • Provides system-wide organizational /change readiness methodology –enabled by leaders

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, or Industrial / Org Psychology or other relevant field.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.

Qualification/Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Organizational Development with at least 5 years in a management capacity.
  • Highly-motivated self-starter comfortable leading and managing teams through organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Ability to facilitate senior level meetings and counsel leaders on talent management and development topics.
  • Must demonstrate outstanding judgment and sound business skills with the ability to establish a strong rapport with staff at all levels.
  • Strong orientation to creating positive and collaborative work environments of diverse populations through effective employee engagement practices.
  • Extensive experience using individual talent and organizational capability assessment tools and diagnostic instruments.

Work Schedule

Typically Monday thru Friday, regular business hours.

Minneapolis boasts being both cosmopolitan yet small enough that you can find a place to call home whether on a lake, golf course, or in an adjoining suburb. With the fast pace of activity there are professional sports, theater, or enough parks for a quiet walk. The area has numerous schools and colleges, both public or private, and enough teams for all weekend athletes to join.
