The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the oversight of the development and implementation of internal communications messaging strategies for the organization’s business units or corporate functions. Work with staff to align key campaigns, message strategies and leverage opportunities appropriately.

Strategic Planning

  • Partner with senior leadership teams and communications team members/leaders to help drive strategy and employee engagement through effective communications strategies
  • Prioritize communications tactics and strategies of the Internal Communications team based on alignment with larger organizational strategy and/or impact to local or system wide employee engagement

Consulting

  • Responsible for oversight of strategy, planning and execution of employee/internal communications for local business units/business unit leaders and/or system office functions/system office leaders
  • Serve as a partner with business unit/system office leadership and project teams to deliver effective communications that support business objectives while maintaining or increasing employee engagement

Writing & Producing Materials

  • Create messaging and materials for project-based assignments and regular, ongoing communications needs
  • Translate key business issues and priorities into messages that can be easily understood by and resonate with employees at all levels

Management

  • Direct the efforts and priorities of the clinical/business unit OR culture/people communications teams to ensure alignment with measurable, organizational strategies and priorities
  • Work with internal communications clinical/business unit OR culture people communications team members to ensure the appropriate level of support is dedicated to communications for internal and external communications needs
  • Coordinate assignments and manage performance of the internal communications team members
  • Manage the establishment of processes and work priority criteria that enable the internal communications function to be more effective and efficient

Education

Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent.

Qualification/Skills

  • Minimum eight years of experience in employee/ internal communication/change management communications
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and business acumen
  • Ability to influence and build credibility with executive leadership for messaging and communications strategies
  • Experienced in driving individual and team performance by coaching, modeling behaviors and providing constructive feedback
  • Relationship-oriented; able to effectively create and deliver compelling and clear presentations
  • Experience in project management and counseling teams (communications and partners) to deliver informed, measurable communication plans
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Strong writing skills in simplifying complex materials
  • Strong organizational, project management, problem solving abilities
  • Comfortable leading change and developing strategies and communication solutions for a wide variety of scenarios
  • Motivated, engaging, self-starting and influential
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
