Responsibilities

  • Performs clinic specific technical and direct patient care tasks as indicated by the provider in a safe and accurate manner per protocols with age-specific and cultural consideration and documents accordingly
  • Provides physician and non-physician providers appropriate nursing assistance per protocol/direction in all procedures
  • Obtain adequate history and vital signs and documents these per protocol for each patient visit
  • Accurately documents all nursing and physician services provided per protocol and regulatory guidelines in patient chart
  • Utilizes effective communication with patients and coworkers
  • Clean and restock exam rooms per clinic guidelines
  • Sterilize equipment per clinic protocols
  • Documents necessary QA log information accurately
  • Completes other related work as necessary
  • Provides accurate information on all patient phone calls per guideline/direction
  • Documents all communication in patient record according to guidelines
  • Accurately mails/faxes patient information following physician direction and clinic guidelines
  • Able to complete the clinic’s refill procedure in timely manner
  • Demonstrates understanding of their role in developing and maintaining an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees

Education

  • Applicants with less than 6 months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship or
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Previous outpatient medical office experience preferred
  • Prefer minimum of one year clinic Medical Assistant or LPN experience
  • Experience working with electronic medical records program strongly preferred

Skills

  • Knowledge of various nursing procedures (i.e. EKG, spirometry, injections, ear lavage, etc)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact with patients, family members/visitors, other health care team members in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Good organizational and judgment skills
  • Effective communication

Licensure/Certification

  • Current MN LPN licensure or
  • Medical Assistant: Applicants with less than 6 months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Work Schedule

  • Location: Abbott Northwestern Piper Building
  • Will be also working at Plymouth location
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, hours vary from 7:45-4:30
  • No weekends
  • Benefit eligible
  • Non contract
