Position Purpose
The Medical Specialties Medical Director of Allina Health is accountable to shape and implement organizational strategy, clinical care, and service initiatives for the non-surgical specialties of Allergy, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Eye Care (ophthalmology, optometry), Infectious Disease, Integrative Medicine, Pulmonology and Sleep, and Rheumatology across the Allina Health Clinics and the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. In addition, this position will be responsible for the advancement of medical specialties, enhancement of provider recruitment, team engagement, and fostering a positive culture. This strategic leadership role, which partners with a dyad operations leader, offers an opportunity to build a team of Medical Specialists across Allina Health. This position is approximately 60% administrative and 40% clinical.

Education

  • MD or DO.
  • Board certification in Allergy, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Eye Care (ophthalmology, optometry), Infectious Disease, Integrative Medicine, Pulmonology and Sleep, or Rheumatology.
  • MBA or MHA preferred.
  • Physician licensed in the State of MN.

Qualification/Skills

  • 5+ years of clinical practice experience as a medical specialist.
  • Recognized as an excellent clinician with knowledge, interest, and involvement in care improvement, clinical quality, service excellence, and cost effectiveness.
  • 4+ years in a relevant clinical leadership role preferred. We seek a seasoned physician leader.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to:
    • Communicate effectively and act as a role model to motivate and influence others.
    • Coach, support, and develop physicians and physician leaders.
    • Plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate the implementation of projects and initiatives.
    • Understand and utilize clinical, financial, and operational information for business improvement.
    • Maintain positive energy and personal engagement through change.
    • Make decisions, take action, and sustain forward momentum in a complex organization.
    • Act as an advocate and champion for the patient.
  • Effective team member with the ability to build strong relationships and a commitment to team success.
