The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

The Strategy and Business Development Consultant will focus on care continuum partnerships, physician and hospital transactions, other new business development opportunities, and strategic planning and execution. This position will be responsible for managing the complete project life cycle for these initiatives, from opportunity assessment through implementation.


Strategic Planning
Lead strategic planning efforts and synthesize organizational strategies. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Lead strategic planning for regional markets, clinical service lines, and business units.
  • Incorporate best-in-practice planning methodologies.
  • Facilitate planning sessions with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Accountable for development of deliverables.
  • Participate in capital planning & prioritization process as part of planning efforts.
  • Provide content expertise in clinical service line intelligence.
  • Use of market analytic tools and data analysis

Strategic Partnerships and Transactions
Lead the assessment of new care continuum partnerships as well as new business development opportunities. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Define and scope new strategic partnerships and business transaction opportunities.
  • Research and analysis to support business case development.
  • Participate in financial planning activities such as benchmarking, financial projections, ROI to support capital investment in joint ventures, acquisitions, and affiliations.
  • Development of key performance indicators and measures.
  • Creation of business case deliverables and presentation of findings to Allina executive management and external stakeholders.

Business Development
Manage the development, planning, and implementation of strategies, partnerships and transactions including, but not limited to:
  • Proposal development and contract execution.
  • Meeting coordination and team facilitation.
  • Facilitate compliance and risk mitigation activities.
  • Process support and documentation.
  • Issues management and problem resolution.
  • Management of stakeholder relationships and communications.
  • Providing consultation, teamwork, and facilitation to unify stakeholders towards a common goal.
  • Ensuring ongoing partnership performance and progress.
  • Participation in decision-making activities with executive management, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
  • Partnering with internal and external resources to implement partnership integration tactics.
  • Leading and motivating others to achieve outstanding results.


  • MBA or MHA required or significant applicable experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare provider setting, or as a consultant to the healthcare industry.


  • Proficient analytical and data management skills, including statistical analysis and finance.
  • Exceptional skills in presenting complex information both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated project management skills – from design to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, independent action-oriented work history, negotiation and conflict management skills, strong change management skills
  • Business Development experience.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effectively conduct meetings and facilitate dialogue among cross-functional participants.
