Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing leadership in establishing, promoting, and maintaining a safe, healthy, accident free work environment for hospital employees
  • Responsible for both implementing safety initiatives and acting as a consultant to management and employees in matters of safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials, regulatory compliance and preparing for, and responding to, fire, disaster and critical events
  • Provides leadership and integration for organizational safety initiatives, applying competent knowledge of employee health and safety industry standards, principles, concepts and practices in concert with company practices
  • Manages employee safety performance improvement activities and related measurement systems
  • Supports the development, implementation and management of safety and compliance related education

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, Biology, Industrial Hygiene or other related degree required.

Qualification/Skills

  • 3 - 5 years experience in employee safety or industrial hygiene in a health care setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of MNOSHA, MPCA and EPA standards
  • Technical knowledge of industrial hygiene, safety, health regulations and requirements
  • Understanding of statistics and data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to drive performance and change across disciplines and levels of staff
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills
  • Strong presentation skills in a variety of settings: one to one, groups of various sizes and levels, peers and direct reports
  • Ability to create and foster relationships
  • Ability to influence others
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
