New Ulm Medical Center, located in south central Minnesota, seeks to be a national model for rural health. ·Diagnosis - Analyzes assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses
·Assessments - Collects, prioritizes, and synthesizes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation
·Outcomes Identifications - Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient

  • The float nurse supports inpatient and outpatient departments with day to day operations and staffing. The float position requires that the candidate have prior experience in acute care. The float position requires a high level of organizational, communication, critical thinking and team work skills. The float nurse must be able to prioritize tasks and work independently.

The float nurse is involved in staffing, bed management, decisions to divert patients from the facility, security, and required bed management reporting to the state. The float nurse supports activity in all of the units including the emergency department when activity is high or emergent situations occur, OB, Mental Health, Critical care and Med/Surg.

  • Critical care or emergency department experience preferred
  • Acute care experience required



Education

  • · New Graduate hires must be a graduate of a nationally accredited school of nursing and inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.

· · Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred for all RN positions.

Qualification/Skills

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Minnesota (Current WI nursing license for River Falls Hospital)
Basic Life Support (per American Heart Association guidelines) by completion of orientation.

Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NRP
  • TNCC

Work Schedule

  • .8FTE (32 hours a week)
  • Combination of 8 and 12 hour day/evening shifts
  • Every 3rd Weekend
  • Benefit Eligible
  • MNA Contract
