Responsibilities

  • The Hospitalist-Internal Medicine, IM/Peds position provides general medical care for hospitalized patients
  • Serves as the physician-of-record after accepting case responsibility for a hospitalized patient from his/her primary care physician, as well as for unassigned patients from the hospital, patients referred to the hospital from communities outside the area, and patients from physicians in the community who can no longer make hospital rounds on their patients

Education

  • The position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Three (3) years related hospital experience which can be obtained through a residency program

Skills

  • Must have demonstrated ability performing endotracheal intubation procedures
  • Skills preferred but not required: performing minor surgical procedures, including paracentesis, central line placements and arterial line placements; ventilator management; and peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) line insertion

Licensure/Certifications

  • Must have current, unrestricted Minnesota State Medical Licensure
  • Must be board certified or be eligible for board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine
  • MN License required
  • ACLS
  • BLS

Work Schedule

Combination of inpatient/outpatient if candidate wishes.
  • Salary Range: Highly Competitive Salary and Incentive Compensation Plan
  • Physicians Group of New Ulm benefits package includes, but is not limited to, medical, group life, long-term disability, 401K, generous time off, an annual deferred compensation allowance, payment of malpractice insurance (includes tail coverage), annual CME allowance, and payment of license, DEA, and board certification. Eligible to become a share-holder and stock purchase after the first year.
  • NUMC will provide signing bonus and assist with relocation costs.
