Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming calls from patients with medical questions or concerns
  • Schedules appointments using established guidelines
  • Works directly with cancer and hematology patients collecting and recording accurate data and documenting a brief summary of their reasons for the visit
  • Coordinates workflow, assists with the communication within the work station and with the Chemo area
  • Answers and returns phone calls and makes appointments
  • Provides education to patients and families and contributes to the creation of a therapeutic environment
  • Patient experience
  • Administers medications as appropriate to Oncology Clinic
  • Follows all Allina and business unit policies including but not limited to: Code of Conduct, Respectful Workplace, HIPAA
  • Obtains required medical records & results for patients prior to visit with provider
  • Performs patient checkout on select cancer or hematology patients
  • Works with Department's oral chemotherapy drug program and specialty pharmacy to obtain drug, authorization, refills and monitoring of compliance
  • Communicates with other departments, nursing & ancillary, to ensure continuity of patient's care
  • performs tasks such as outdate monitoring, assisting filling of disability, insurance and FMLA & other processes to meet quality initiatives and patient needs appropriate to their cancer or hematology care.

Education

  • Must be a graduate of an Accredited School of Practical Nursing

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Prefer experience with cancer patients (Cancer basics education will be provided)

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current Minnesota LPN Licensure
  • BLS

Work Schedule

  • .9FTE (36 hours per week)
  • Day/ Evening hours
  • Occasional Weekend
  • Benefit Eligible
  • MLPN Contract




***Oncology clinic with 1 - 2 providers (MD and NP).
Scheduled weekdays with days & hours based on provider and their start and finish time.
Onco Clinic also includes a Clinic RN, another LPN and a RN Cancer Care Coordinator
When Providers are not in clinic, nurse may be assigned to another department as needed.
Week-end rotation/extended hours per Main clinic's process.
