Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary testing, vision history screening, glasses neutralization and visual fields
  • Assist provider with minor surgical procedures in office
  • History taking including ocular and family history, systemic illness, medications, allergies, vital signs, visual acuity, color vision testing, lensometry, stereopsis, exophthalmometry, Amsler grid, Schirmer tests, evaluate pupils, ocular dressing and shields, assisting patients, tonometry, instrument maintenance, ocular motility
  • Schedule surgeries and obtain prior authorizations and referrals
  • Conduct pre-surgery testing
  • Provide patient education
  • Dispense contact lens per provider prescriptions
  • Provide patient contact lens insertion and removal training
  • Provide eyeglass fitting, adjusting and selection services to patients
  • Have a working knowledge of retail optical equipment, lens products and current frame trends.
  • Assist in the daily tasks; opening and closing, financial reporting, maintaining frame boards and displays and record keeping
  • Maintain diagnostic contact lens inventory by organizing, cleaning and performing counts as directed
  • Order and maintain ophthalmic supplies, medications and ointments
  • Clean and sterilize equipment

Education

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Qualification/Skills

  • Knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to assist and respond to various patient needs

Work Schedule

  • This is a casual position.
  • Training provided to work in Optical and Eye Clinic.
