Allina Health Home Care Services provides skilled medical care for patients and families needing rehabilitation, advanced-illness or end-of-life care. With headquarters located in St. Paul, Minn., services are provided in 30 Minnesota counties, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient/family needs for volunteers
  • Assignment of volunteers to cases, including bereavement cases and 11th Hour
  • Monitor the Volunteer’s adherence to the plan of care
  • Volunteer supervision and recognition
  • Train volunteers
  • Supervise each volunteer, including establishing rapport, coaching, compliance, support and recognition
  • Independent performance evaluations are conducted after the volunteer’s first year and every 2 years thereafter using volunteer documentation, and feedback from patients, families and Hospice staff
  • Review and process volunteer documentation in a timely manner and in compliance with Medicare, licensing laws, volunteer and Hospice policies
  • Monitor frequency and quality of volunteer contact/visits
  • Provide recognition to volunteers
  • Communicate to team members, patients/ family members
  • Volunteer recruitment and support

Education

  • College degree (Human Services or related) preferred

Qualification/Skills

  • Previous experience recruiting, training and supervising volunteers desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow through
  • Sensitivity to loss, grief and ethical issues
  • Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job
  • Scheduling experience highly desirable
  • Computer experience desirable

Work Schedule

  • 20 hours/week.
  • Some flexibility with scheduling, but availability needed Wednesday mornings, and ideally Mondays and Fridays in order to meet any time sensitive volunteer requests throughout the week.
