Owatonna Hospital, located south of the Twin Cities, offers inpatient and outpatient orthopedic, general, urology, plastic, ENT and ophthalmologic surgical services; inpatient mental health; birthing center; emergency medicine; and rehabilitation services through Courage Kenny Rehabilitation InstituteTM. With 331 employees, 163 physicians and 43 staffed beds, Owatonna Hospital serves approximately 42,000 inpatients and outpatients annually. The hospital is connected to Mayo Clinic Health System Owatonna and Koda Living Community, an 80-bed long- and short-term care facility.

  • Identify, define and document quality improvement for business processes or systems in need of improvement
  • Evaluate system vs. work flow improvements and communicate to customers
  • Develop and present processes and work flow models to end users for analysis and evaluation
  • Coordinate system and quality demonstrations and testing
  • Communicate and negotiate with Allina on hardware, software and network needs/ requirements
  • Provide on-going support to end users on business/systems/quality performance
  • Provide support for other projects, quality improvement projects and initiatives as assigned

  • Associates degree required
  • Bachelor degree in business or health care preferred
  • Current MN RN licensure required



  • 4 years experience in ambulatory setting with quality improvement, systems analysis, and business process work flows preferred


  • Ability to assess quality of current work flow state to system capabilities and make recommendations to improve operations and quality
  • Effectively lead meetings and direct team problem solving sessions
  • Excellent teamwork and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to teach and develop educational tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer and experience with Microsoft Product Suite—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellian/EPIC experience preferred
  • Requires adaptability and the ability to cope with a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • A strong motivation to serve customers is essential
  • Flexibility in moving between projects as priorities change

Work Schedule

  • Flexible start times and end times related to meetings and meet the patient care needs of the organization
  • Four days per week, some flexibility to set own schedule
  • 32 hours/week
