United Hospital, located in downtown St. Paul, Minn., is the largest hospital in the Twin Cities east metro area, providing innovative services and programs, such as the Nasseff Heart Center, United Heart; Vascular Clinic and Vascular Center; neuroscience care through the John Nasseff Neuroscience Institute for the treatment of brain aneurisms, Bentson Family Foundation Neurological Intensive Care Unit, Brain Tumor Center and the Nasseff Neuroscience Center; as well as psychiatry, womens health, surgical, rehabilitation and emergency services. With 2,949 employees, more than 1,000 physicians and 546 licensed beds, United Hospital provides a full range of health care services to 200,000 inpatients and outpatients each year.

Position Purpose:
This position provides leadership to United Hospital regarding the development of people strategies and solutions that result in the delivery of exceptional patient care and business success. This position also serves as a strategic resource to hospital leadership and ensures that HR policy, practice and programs are aligned to meet business unit goals and support the strategic direction of Allina Health.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Qualification/Skills

  • Minimum of 8 yrs experience in HR leadership in a service industry; healthcare preferred
  • Strong employee relations track record
  • Ability to anticipate, think strategically, and challenge appropriately
  • Excellent operations, project management, and leadership capabilities
  • The ability to design and implement responsible and effective programs, systems and initiatives
  • Must have sound business acumen and demonstrated abilities to develop partnerships and influence all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop HR strategy and vision to support business strategies and goals
  • Demonstrate the ability to combine creative and analytical thinking to support business objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to direct and successfully manage multiple, diverse projects on time and within budget
  • Delegate responsibility when appropriate to enable staff to develop new skills and broaden their knowledge base
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Research and presentation capabilities
  • Systemic thinker when contemplating and implementing change
