Allina Health Home Care Services provides skilled medical care for patients and families needing rehabilitation, advanced-illness or end-of-life care. With headquarters located in St. Paul, Minn., services are provided in 30 Minnesota counties, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Responsibilities

Provide massage therapy services to hospice patients in accordance with the hospice philosophy and within the standards of Massage Therapy clinical practice set by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)
Documents in a manner that is reflective of massage therapy interventions, painting the picture of patient status, cares given, and effectiveness of the plan of care.
Communicate effectively with team members, patients/families.
Provide education to internal agency staff, Allina, and the community regarding the role of massage therapy in hospice care.
Leadership
Practices and demonstrates knowledge of current policies, procedures, and requirements.

Responsible for development of professional massage therapy practice

Assumes responsibility for meeting own education requirements set by NCBTMB in order to maintain certification

Complete agency regulatory requirements for continuing education. including Basic Life Support(BLS).

Contribute to organization/ industry wide initiatives.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of massage therapy with a minimum of 500 hours of training
  • Membership in a professional massage association.

Qualification/Skills

Minimum of 3 years of experience providing massage, with at least one year of experience working with the medically frail.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Competency in all areas of the position description.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the diagnosis and population served.
  • Sensitivity and ability to provide compassionate and caring presence to patients and families with varied lifestyles.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and contraindications for massage.
  • Ability to perform while requiring manual dexterity and standing for long periods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as an interdisciplinary team member.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible, willing to cross over geographic areas in time of need.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to articulate the value of the massage therapy discipline.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to end of life issues and palliative care as it applies to massage therapy goals.

Work Schedule

Full time- Monday through Friday 8a-5p
