  • Sports medicine orthopedic surgeon
  • Clinical care, surgical intervention plus outside event coverage
  • Clinical duties include new patient triage for sports medicine or orthopedic patients
  • Injection clinics plus collaboration with urgent cares for musculoskeletal patients is also expected
  • Expected surgeries include shoulder and sports knee
  • Effective communication with doctors, coaches, parents, patients and community contacts is essential
  • Duties require an ability to effectively work with patients of all strata, proactively anticipate the needs of athletes
  • Functions appropriately as part of care delivery team through efficient use of resources and skills, both their own and those of other provider and staff
  • Chart in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope
  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management
  • Quality improvement utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes or workflows

Education

  • This position requires a Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
  • Fellowship in sports medicine surgery

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Must have demonstrated experience in designated specialty area
  • Experience in research, presentations and sideline coverage is also expected

Licensure/Certification

  • Must have current, unrestricted Minnesota State Medical Licensure
  • Must be board certified or be eligible for board certification within designated specialty

Work Schedule

  • No ER/trauma call required.
  • Required to participate in evening/weekend call for Sports & Ortho patients.
  • Position will be based at Sports & Ortho - St. Paul Clinic location and will perform surgeries at United Hospital.
