Provides Leadership in Trauma Program Development N/A
  • Participates with and advises Administration, Directors of ED, physician and nursing leadership in Trauma program planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Maintains leadership role in multidisciplinary work teams (e.g. Trauma Committees, Trauma work groups, etc.). Facilitates forward movement toward resolution of issues and improved outcomes.
  • Maintains and enhances key relationships between Trauma Services and pre-hospital providers, ED, OR, ICU, Collaborative Committees, Physicians involved with trauma patients; and other key hospitals.
  • Participates in activities which enhance United’s image in the community and which communicates our abilities as a trauma hospital.
  • Creates clear patient-centered vision and direction for department.
  • Serves as a liaison to administration, representing the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster a fiscally sound Trauma Program.
  • Demonstrates skillful leadership through negotiation of changes and implementation of process improvements.
  • Utilizes business case rationale, including analysis of applicable data and market place dynamics when developing & implementing trauma program strategies and practice innovations.
3. Develops and manages quality and performance improvement program for the trauma population to trauma center standards.
  • Evaluates quality of trauma care through retrospective and concurrent study, utilizing pre-established standard and pathways for guidance. Opportunities to improve care are identified.
  • Develop policies and procedures based on current literature, input from clinicians and other sources such as information from patient care evaluations
  • Utilizes multidisciplinary work groups to promote effective and integrated system changes.
  • Assures that Quality Improvement efforts achieve expected levels of patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness.
  • Communicates quality evaluation and outcomes occurs through Trauma Committees, Hospital Committees, and other activities.
4. Coordinates Community Service through injury prevention offerings and prevention education N/A
  • Develops and/or participates in events and work groups which will help to improve the health of our community through injury prevention
5. Supports Trauma patient care and care coordination
  • Coordinates and leads trauma physicians, neurologists, and staff in development of systems and processes for trauma care.
  • Assures appropriate resources and skills are available to support excellent trauma care.
  • Participates in clinical rounds which facilitates relationships and linkages between care areas, identifies opportunities for efficiencies and quality of trauma care.
6. Develops Trauma Program N/A
  • Coaches, and mentors staff
  • Contributes to the professional development of staff by establishing expectations for performance, providing timely and focused feedback and assistance with developmental needs.
  • Advocates for staff to participate in educational programs, conferences, workshops and other formal education, as applicable, to advance learning and skills.
  • Develops and operationalizes employee engagement strategy
7. Develops hospital staff N/A
  • Through PI process, identifies educational needs for trauma caregivers.
  • Develops curricula and educational programs and/or activities which promote professional development of staff involved in Trauma care.
  • Educates caregivers along the trauma care continuum.

  • Coordinate preparation for statewide trauma system designation site visit.

  • Coordinates and assists ED Department leadership in orientation of ED staff and new hires


  • Baccalaureate Degree (BAN/BSN preferred) in Nursing Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred


  • ED Background preferred
  • Trauma coordinator experience preferred
  • Clinical Nurse specialist education and experience preferred

Monday-Friday, additional hours as needed
