  • Participates with and advises Administration, Directors of ED, physician and nursing leadership in Trauma program planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Maintains leadership role in multidisciplinary work teams (e.g. Trauma Committees, Trauma work groups, etc.). Facilitates forward movement toward resolution of issues and improved outcomes.
  • Maintains and enhances key relationships between Trauma Services and pre-hospital providers, ED, OR, ICU, Collaborative Committees, Physicians involved with trauma patients; and other key hospitals.
  • Participates in activities which enhance United’s image in the community and which communicates our abilities as a trauma hospital.
  • Creates clear patient-centered vision and direction for department.
  • Serves as a liaison to administration, representing the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster a fiscally sound Trauma Program.
  • Demonstrates skillful leadership through negotiation of changes and implementation of process improvements.
  • Utilizes business case rationale, including analysis of applicable data and market place dynamics when developing & implementing trauma program strategies and practice innovations.
3. Develops and manages quality and performance improvement program for the trauma population to trauma center standards.

  • Evaluates quality of trauma care through retrospective and concurrent study, utilizing pre-established standard and pathways for guidance. Opportunities to improve care are identified.
  • Develop policies and procedures based on current literature, input from clinicians and other sources such as information from patient care evaluations

  • Assures that Quality Improvement efforts achieve expected levels of patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness.

Education

  • Clinical Nurse specialist education and experience preferred
