St. Francis Regional Medical Center, located in Shakopee, Minn., provides an array of patient care services, including The Family Birth Place, Breast Center, Cancer Center, pediatric care, rehabilitation and sports medicine, as well as a range of health education and support groups. With 798 employees, 459 physicians and 86 staffed beds, St. Francis provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to more than 115,000 patients each year on a collaborative medical campus with more than 30 other providers. This unique structure enables St. Francis to combine the caring and compassion of a community hospital with the modern medical technology, specialties and services found in the metro area. It is jointly owned by Allina Health, Essentia Health Critical Access Group and HealthPartners.

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary resource for patients, collaborating with providers and functioning as part of a team to achieve patient outcomes based on diagnosis and prognosis
  • Uses the nursing process and effective communication skills to collect information about the patients history, presenting complaint and symptoms in sufficient detail and accuracy to allow appropriate evaluation, classification, advice and disposition of the patients request
  • The RN Clinic focuses on primary or specialty care, and/or provides direct nursing support to physicians
  • Assessment - Collect, prioritize, and synthesize comprehensive data pertinent to the patients health or situation
  • Planning - Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes
  • Implementation - Implement the identified plan
  • Evaluation - Evaluate the patients progress towards attainment of the outcome
  • Education - Attain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice
  • Collaboration - Collaborate with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice
  • Ethics - Act in an ethical manner
  • Resource Utilization - Incorporate factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in planning and delivering patient care
  • Leadership - Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • New graduate hires must have graduated from a nursing program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (part of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)

  • New graduate hires must have graduated from an accredited nursing program which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting with specialty experience preferred
  • Experience working with electronic medical records program strongly preferred

Skills

  • Ability to:
  • Utilize customer service skills in order to positively impact the experience of care for our patients, external customers and internal service partners
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and excellent customer service skills
  • Respond to various patient needs
  • Communicate and work within a team environment effectively
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and assessment skills
  • Perform vital signs, documentation, practice infection control, medication reconciliation, administration, and emergency procedures (IE: CPR)
  • Maintain good organization, problem solving and judgment
  • Follow all procedures and protocols for assigned work area
  • Stand for long periods of time. Some bending, stooping, and stretching. Lifting patients to a maximum of 32 lbs. except in an emergency (i.e. patient falling). May lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Keyboard and navigate within an electronic medical record work environment

Licensure/Certification

  • Current RN licensure in the State of Minnesota (Current WI nursing license for WI clinics) Some RN’s may be required to hold licenses in both MN and WI depending on location and role
  • Basic Life Support certification (per American Heart Association guidelines) within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS required for RNs who conduct cardiac stress tests and monitor sedation

Saturday-Sunday 8am-4:30pm

The City of Shakopee is located in the southwest corner of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, 23 miles from Minneapolis, on the Minnesota River.
