St. Francis Regional Medical Center, located in Shakopee, Minn., provides an array of patient care services, including The Family Birth Place, Breast Center, Cancer Center, pediatric care, rehabilitation and sports medicine, as well as a range of health education and support groups. Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Sleep Center. This includes oversight of patient scheduling and chart preparation, review of quality of acquisitions and scoring, troubleshooting equipment, technical resource for staff, patients and physicians, ensuring appropriate education and competencies of technical staff, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Conducts the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders in patients
  • Assists patients in preparing for sleep studies, and instructs patients on standard sleep study processes/procedures
  • Scores PSGs, MSLTs and MWTs
  • Educates patients on sleep disorders, and the operation of sleep disorder devices
  • *Lead Duties include-
  • Provides leadership for the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the hospital and all affiliated clinics, physicians and businesses in partnership
  • Supports and interacts with the Allina Health Sleep Initiative
  • Works to involve and inform appropriate people as necessary in all decisions and work process improvements
  • Complete peer reviews for performance measurement
  • Perform Quality scoring on a quarterly basis for staff sleep studies
  • Demonstrates follow-through by doing what they say they will do or communicating why they are unable to do so.
  • Gives prompt feedback that reinforces positive behavior and challenges inappropriate behaviors.
  • Sets clear expectations and boundaries for staff.
  • Interprets and supports management decisions
  • Models ethical and informed decision making

Education

  • Successful completion of polysomnography program with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility (preferred) OR meets BRPT standards for a sleep technologist (preferred) OR equivalent experience with documented proficiency in all required competencies of a Polysomnographic Technologist

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Three or more years experience in polysomnography preferred
  • One or more years experience in lead role performing lead duties listed
  • Experience with the Sleep Accreditation process

Skills

  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of PAP devices
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Technologically skilled

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current license in allied health profession, if applicable
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Must be Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through NRPT or credentialed with Sleep Disorders Specialty from NBRC

Work Schedule

1- 12 hour night with 2 variable day shifts/week
