St. Francis Regional Medical Center, located in Shakopee, Minn., provides an array of patient care services, including The Family Birth Place, Breast Center, Cancer Center, pediatric care, rehabilitation and sports medicine, as well as a range of health education and support groups. With 798 employees, 459 physicians and 86 staffed beds, St. Francis provides a full range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to more than 115,000 patients each year on a collaborative medical campus with more than 30 other providers. This unique structure enables St. Francis to combine the caring and compassion of a community hospital with the modern medical technology, specialties and services found in the metro area. It is jointly owned by Allina Health, Essentia Health Critical Access Group and HealthPartners.

Position Purpose
This position provides executive leadership to St. Francis Regional Medical Center. Leads strategy development and operational oversight for the strategic and organization performance goals, in accordance with the mission, vision, values and Joint Membership agreement. Leads all day-to-day operations to achieve clinical, financial and quality of care objectives. The position will be expected to formulate and implement strategic and tactical plans to achieve operating results and grow market share; to promote a positive image and enhance community and physician relations. This incumbent shall exemplify the St. Francis mission and core values in all daily interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to ensure that health care needs of the community are met and the long-range success of St. Francis is assured.
  • Optimize the benefits of the Joint Membership Agreement between Allina Hospitals and Clinics, Essentia Health and Health Partners to the communities that St. Francis serves.
  • Ensure an effective medical staff structure, strong relationships with physicians, and grow the medical staff.
  • Promote an organizational culture that embodies St. Francis’ mission, vision, and values.
  • Manage operations in partnership with Allina Health, the managing partner, ensuring financial success, excellent clinical outcomes, patient and employee safety, a service culture, and community and employee engagement.
  • Provide leadership to the senior management team
  • Establish a positive environment for growth and development of all leaders
  • Commit to a highly engaged workforce
  • Develop positive, ongoing relationships with members of the communities served by the Medical Center, as well as foster philanthropy
  • Support the St. Francis Board of Directors as a resource and in an advisory capacity
  • Support an environment of ongoing quality improvement
  • Serve as a role model for ethical management behavior, supports the Ethical and Religious Directives of the Catholic Church, and assures that St. Francis operates consistently with these principles.


Education

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in related field; e.g. Health Care Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Medicine, etc.

Qualification/Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in health care and hospital operations environment is required.
  • Experience developing advanced clinical service lines and working in a matrixed and complex joint venture environment with multiple stakeholders is strongly suggested.
  • Strong human relations skills.
  • Strong value-based leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to develop and sustain excellent relations with medical staff, managers, employees, and community.

The City of Shakopee is located in the southwest corner of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, 23 miles from Minneapolis, on the Minnesota River. Residents of Shakopee enjoy both the atmosphere of a small town and the resources of a thriving metropolitan area. Incorporated in 1857 as a booming river town, today Shakopee is the county seat of Scott County, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. The city has its own downtown central business district, regional medical center and business park and is home to regional entertainment attractions such as Historic Murphys Landing, Valleyfair Amusement Park, and Canterbury Park Racetrack.
