The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.

 

Responsibilities

Req ID: 48460
  • Responds to all emergencies within the hospital campus
  • Performs patrols and escorts on hospital property
  • Investigates calls for service and prepares written reports
  • Staffs the Communications center
  • Enforces criminal ordinances and makes physical arrests
  • Enforces administrative rules
  • Serves as a department liaison to hospital, department, and other customers
  • Equipment usage

Education

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • Two years post secondary education, or currently enrolled in a security, law enforcement, or criminal justice undergraduate degree program preferred
  • If no degree, must have 1-year experience in security, law enforcement, military police or related field

Qualification/Skills

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Basic office computer skills required
  • Knowledge of verbal and physical de-escalation, use of force continuum and arrest laws preferred
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Employees must be able to make decisions and act independently without direct supervision when making enforcement decisions and in meeting emergencies

Licensure/Certifications

  • Current, valid drivers license
  • POST Skills completed, International Association of Hospital Safety and Security (Basic), First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or OSHA first responder certifications preferred
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a plus

Work Schedule

  • Days, every other weekend

The City of Shakopee is located in the southwest corner of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, 23 miles from Minneapolis, on the Minnesota River. Residents of Shakopee enjoy both the atmosphere of a small town and the resources of a thriving metropolitan area. Incorporated in 1857 as a booming river town, today Shakopee is the county seat of Scott County, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. The city has its own downtown central business district, regional medical center and business park and is home to regional entertainment attractions such as Historic Murphys Landing, Valleyfair Amusement Park, and Canterbury Park Racetrack.
