St. Francis Regional Medical Center, located in Shakopee, Minn., provides an array of patient care services, including The Family Birth Place, Breast Center, Cancer Center, pediatric care, rehabilitation and sports medicine, as well as a range of health education and support groups. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to scrub on all procedures performed at SFRMC
  • Assesses and maintains updated skills on new equipment and procedures
  • Recommend changes to the care plans to the RN
  • Assists with patient positioning and transfer
  • Assist with room turnover
  • Assists in providing customer service based preference list and care plans
  • Follows policies and procedures of the procedural services department
  • Demonstrates principles of aseptic technique
  • Demonstrates principles of sterilization and decontamination
  • Assists in developing education plans
  • Assists in orientation in the OR in the scrub role
  • Demonstrates continuing self-education pertinent to the operating room environment
  • Informs team members of needed equipment, supplies during the procedure
  • Informs RN of problems, difficulties occurring during the procedure
  • Documents all changes in physician preference list
  • Informs charge nurse of physician request for special/new equipment
  • Requests, accepts and provides constructive criticism
  • Attends in services and classes related to unit
  • Attends mandatory in services and competency testing
  • Participates in staff meetings
  • Maintains positive relationships with others
  • Willingly and independently assist others with work
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Attire is appropriate
  • Performs technical functions per department/procedures
  • Recognizes position knowledge and limitations

Education

  • High school graduate
  • Graduate of Surgical Technician School
  • Certification within 1 year of hire.

Qualification/Skills

Minimum 2 years experience in ortho, spine, general, gyn, podiatry, ENT, plastics, urology

Work Schedule

  • 28 hours a week
  • Days/Evenings
  • Shifts will vary. Shifts are 6:45, 9:00, 11:00 and 2:30 start times.
  • Call responsibilities for this position will be rotated. Restricted and unrestricted call and a call room in house for restricted.
